About Pong

Pong is the original video arcade game. Two paddles face each other, a ball travels between them, and each side tries to get it past the other.

There is nothing to it beyond position and angle, which is why it still works. The entire game is reading the ball's path and deciding where on the paddle to meet it.

How to play

Playing better

  • Use the paddle edges to change the return angle. Central contact sends the ball back flat and predictably, which is easy to return.
  • Return to the middle of your side after each shot so you can reach either corner.
  • Watch the ball's angle as it leaves your opponent rather than tracking it the whole way. Its path is set the moment it is struck.
  • Vary your returns. An opponent who reads a repeated angle will be waiting in position for it.
